BrightPlanet’s Deep Web Global News Data Feed consists of data that spans over 9,000 global news source in multiple languages. Over 18 million unique articles have been collected and enriched with an average of 50,000 new articles added daily. The dataset serves as a flexible standard data feed for end-users across all industries to access and use for a vast array of purposes.
How the Data Is Curated
After data is harvested, data then goes through the curation process which extracts entities or key terms from the harvested news articles to give additional structure and provide additional opportunities for analysis. An average of 2.5 million entities are extracted from the documents daily. BrightPlanet commonly performs custom entity extraction for end-users to better use the data, but also has a list of standard entities extracted from the news articles. Standard entities include:

- Crimes
- Weapons
- Symptoms
In addition to standard entities, we also often perform customization of the Global News Data Feed and further augment the data with custom sources for end-users. Customers can specify both custom sources for harvesting and custom curation to make the data fit their needs.
